Community Reads was started in Inyo County to generate awareness of illiteracy while creating a unique opportunity for discussion and learning. Inyo County residents are encouraged to join together to read and discuss one book annually to foster the exchange of ideas. The 4th Community Reads book selection is "Between a Rock and a Hard Place", the 127 Hours story by Aron Ralston.

"Between a Rock and a Hard Place" is a moving account of strength and survival. Ralston presents the full story behind the 2003 event that became worldwide news: his self- amputation of his right arm after it was caught between a boulder and a canyon wall during what began as a routine hike in the canyons of Utah. An experienced climber, Ralston, 28, writes about his nightmare in gripping prose. His story of survival is truly thrilling.

The Kick-Off event begins begins Jan 27: with speaker Peter Croft  at the Mt Light Gallery 5:30- 7:30PM
