Bishop Sunrise Rotary Club was proud to gather with members of the Mammoth Sunrise, Mammoth Noon, and Bishop Noon Rotary Clubs, as well as Forest Service representatives on August 18, 2010 to celebrate the completion of a handicapped accessible restroom at Convict Lake.

Members of the Mammoth Sunrise, Mammoth Noon, Bishop Sunrise, and Bishop Noon Rotary Clubs, as well as Forest Service representatives, gathered on August 18,  2010 at Convict Lake to dedicate a plaque that commemorates the cooperation and work of these organizations, as well as local businesses, on a wheelchair accessible restroom. A number of years ago, Terry Smutney, a member of Mammoth Sunrise and a Wounded Warrior, led the project on a restroom near the wheelchair accessible fishing dock at Convict Lake. He convinced local businesses, the Forest Service and all four Rotary Clubs to donate substantial time, resources, and physical labor into reconfiguring the existing restroom. It is the only handicapped Forest Service restroom in the Eastern Sierra. Terry has since passed away and the ceremony was the culmination of his dream to have a commemorative plaque noting the cooperation of all involved. Our District Governor, Drew Frohlich, was in town and lead the flag salute to begin the ceremony.

This is a fine example of how one person's vision can unite all of the clubs in our area and we can make our community a better place for everyone!
